Compliance Officer

SCOPE:

The position entails ensuring the company complies with all national and international laws by developing a compliance register, implementing legal programs, and conducting GAP analyses, while managing intercompany service documentation and ensuring timely and accurate tax reporting. The job holder must collaborate with various departments to address compliance concerns and maintain relationships with tax authorities to support tax strategy and optimization.

FUNCTIONS/ACTIVITIES:

Main Accountabilities:

MA1: Ensure that the business is in full compliance with all national and international laws.

  • Develop and maintain a compliance register with the laws and regulations required for company operations.
  • Develop and implement an effective legal compliance program.
  • Follow up on compliance issues.
  • Report on compliance.
  • Conduct regular GAP analysis on new and updated laws and regulations.

MA2: Management of the documentation of intercompany services.

  • Develop and maintain documentation of each intercompany service provided or received by company.
  • Produce monthly reports on all intercompany services agreements.
  • Collaborate with various departments involved in intercompany services to ensure that all obligations under the agreement are respected.
  • Resolve employee concerns about legal compliance.

MA3 : Management of the accurate and timely reporting of all tax returns; 

Guarantee tax management and regulatory compliance of tax reporting/returns.

Support with the development and implementation of tax strategy.

Ensure complete documentation of relevant supports and proof of tax.

Ensure accurate computation of all tax liabilities.

Monitor current and impending tax regulation changes and recommend appropriate policy and strategy updates.

Monitor future legislation that impacts taxation and operations, including future risks.

Provide support in identifying, reviewing and implementing tax optimisation opportunities.

Co-ordinate or manage all tax audits by tax authorities.

Develop and maintain relationships with appropriate personnel in relevant tax authorities

Requirements:

Education:

BSc/BA in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field and professional qualification.

Experience:

Minimum of five years of demonstrable experience in Accounting and Taxation.
