Heavy-Duty Mechanic

Scope: 

The position entails examination, servicing and repair of tractors and Heavy-duty Cat Machines belonging to the company. 

Main Accountabilities  

• Examine trucks, tractors and heavy duty Cat machines to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
• Test drive tractors, and HD machines after service/maintenance to ensure effective and efficient performance before handing over to the fleet Unit.
• Ensure weekly maintenance and monthly services.
• Repair, reline, replace and adjust brakes.
• Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors.
• Follow checklist to ensure that all important component are working well.
• Plan work procedures, using charts, technical manuals and experience.
• Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufactures performance specification.
• Dismantle units and inspect parts for wear using calipers and gauges.
• Listen to drivers and operators complaints.
• Maintain vehicles records by the use of the equipment data report on the server.
• Keep working area clean and observe safety rules and regulations at all times.

REQUIREMENTS: 

Education: 

Minimum of Motor Vehicle Technician Part III or equivalent from an Accredited Institution

Experience: 

Minimum of 4 years relevant working experience
