COMMISSIONING OF WATER PROJECT AT APIMENIM

As part of the company’s CSR projects, the Corporate Affairs Department organized a handing over ceremony at Apimenim in the Ahanta West Municipality on Thursday, May 29, 2025. The ceremony signified the official handing over of a 20,000-litre community water facility to the Apemenim community built by GREL that will end years and months of potable water availability in this community initiated by GREL. This project aims to provide the community with reliable access to safe and potable water, which is essential for drinking, cooking, sanitation, and hygiene.

The Managing Director, Mr. Thierry Cauchy, expressed gratitude on behalf of the company for the opportunity to join the chiefs and people of Apimenim in inaugurating yet another social intervention project. He emphasized that GREL values strong relationships with stakeholders and is committed to improving the livelihoods of residents in its operational communities. The MD explained that the water project was constructed as part of GREL’s commitment to ensuring access to clean water and sanitation. He expressed the company’s hope that the chiefs and people of Apimenim would put in place effective mechanisms to maintain the facility so it can serve its intended purpose. He also urged the community to stop the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the Dv 7, pointing out that such actions tarnish the image of the community and negatively impact the health of residents.

During the meeting, Nana Kwesi Agyeman IX, President of ACLANGO, expressed his gratitude to GREL and highlighted the importance of safeguarding the water project donated by GREL. He urged the town’s youth, under the guidance of their leaders, to remain vigilant and actively protect the project’s surroundings from any human activities that could adversely affect its sustainability.

The Chiefs and the elders of the town expressed their profound gratitude that GREL had fulfilled a promise made to them, and they also asked for more assistance in other areas where their town needed a helping hand.

Present at the function were, the Managing Director of GREL, Mr. Thierry Cauchy; Nana Kwesi Agyemang IX, Paramount Chief of Lower Dixcove; Awulae Attibrukusu III, Paramount Chief of Lower Axim; ACLANGO Executives; Hon. Ebenezer Kofi Aidoo, MCE Ahanta West Municipal, Corporate Affairs Manager, Mr. Perry Acheampong; Community Relations Managers, Mr. Jude Fiifi Cudjoe and Mr. Peter Atoura.
