Ghana Rubber Estates Limited (GREL) organised its annual vacation classes for 7,600 pupils from 38 schools in its operational communities from 10 to 28 August 2026.
The three-week programme, implemented at a cost of GH₵540,000, formed part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to supporting education and improving learning outcomes in communities within its operational areas.
The participating schools were drawn from the Western, Central and Eastern regions of Ghana. Each school hosted classes for 200 pupils, comprising 50 learners at each of four educational levels: Kindergarten, Lower Primary, Upper Primary and Junior High School.
A total of 228 teachers were engaged to facilitate the classes. Each participating school was assigned six teachers: one for Kindergarten, one for Lower Primary, one for Upper Primary and three for Junior High School, covering English Language, Mathematics and Science.
To ensure that pupils had the resources and support needed to participate effectively, GREL provided free snacks and essential learning materials, including exercise books, pens, pencils and erasers. The company also provided allowances and lunch for the teachers throughout the programme.
GREL’s annual vacation classes are designed to help pupils remain academically engaged during the school break, reinforce lessons taught during the academic year and prepare them for the next term.
