On 5th March 2026, the GREL Ladies Association celebrated International Women’s Day, bringing together women from across all departments of the company. The event, held under the theme “Give to Gain,” highlighted the strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions of women in society.

The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Madam Edna Ahiaku, who explained that the celebration served as both a moment of recognition and a call to action, reminding participants of the need to continue promoting unity, equality, respect, and opportunity for every woman.

Following the opening remarks, Madam Linda Wunaki, Deputy Human Resources Manager, warmly welcomed participants and noted that this marked the third consecutive IWD celebration within the company. Reflecting on the theme, she explained the importance of collaboration in advancing gender equity, stressing that every act of support and courage contributes to collective progress.

Madam Wunaki described IWD as a time for reflection, pointing out that meaningful progress is driven by women who rise, support one another, and push boundaries despite challenges. She commended the everyday efforts of women, nothing that their dedication, compassion, and hard work continue to shape a more inclusive future.

A key highlight of the event was her presentation on the SIFCA Gender Policy. She expressed pride in the company’s commitment to embedding gender equality into its policies, practices, and culture. She explained that the policy provides a structured approach to advancing women, reinforces fairness and respect, and supports initiatives such as mentorship and leadership development to increase female representation in senior roles. She also emphasized the establishment of safe reporting systems and a zero-tolerance stance on misconduct, supported by continuous monitoring and evaluation.  She further introduced the GREL SIFCA Gender Policy Ambassadors and encouraged more employees to join the initiative in bridging gender gaps. She also highlighted the importance of GREL Ladies Helpline, a support system for women within the company to voice concerns and seek assistance.

The Human Resources Manager, Mr. Howard Nanevie, also addressed the gathering, expressing his satisfaction with the growth of the women’s initiative over the years.
